Five elements calculator: your Ba Zi element balance

TL;DR
This check counts the stems, branches and hidden stems of a Ba Zi chart by wood, fire, earth, metal and water. Your Day Master element is the element of the birth day's stem. A missing element does not automatically need adding. The count runs in your browser.
Reading the result
The default row includes hidden stems. The other two rows are visible stems only, and branch elements only. Hidden stems can add an element the visible stems do not show, so the rows can disagree.
If an element is missing
A zero means that element does not appear in the combined count. Whether to strengthen it depends on the Day Master and the month. The five elements page explains why filling a gap is not automatic. The colour page is useful only after you know what helps the chart.

Questions
How accurate is the count?
The arithmetic follows the chart rules. Favourable elements also depend on the month and the structure, so the tool shows the balance and does not pass judgement.
My chart lacks water. Should I wear black?
First ask whether water helps that chart. Then see the colour guide, or ask for a reading.
Can I use it without a birth time?
Yes. It counts six characters, leaves out the hour pillar, and says so.
