Heritage shophouses and air wells

Around Jonker Street and Heeren Street the shophouses are deep and narrow, with one or more air wells that bring light, rain and air into the middle. In feng shui the air well is a bright hall inside the house: keep it clean, let it drain, and do not roof it over without a reason. Also watch a straight line from the front door to the rear. Many are now cafes, guesthouses and shops, so the entrance and the cashier matter. Melaka was listed with George Town in 2008, which limits the facade, so advice works inside. No specific building is named.

Newer townships and sea view towers

Ayer Keroh, Bukit Beruang, Melaka Raya and the towers along the Straits at Klebang are terrace and semi detached plans like the rest of Malaysia. A unit facing the sea gets wind and glare on one side, which changes which rooms sleep well.

Melaka's Chinese heritage

Peranakan houses, Cheng Hoon Teng, and Bukit China, the historic Chinese hill cemetery, are local context. Naming them does not mean Golden works at those sites.
