TL;DR
Enter a birth date, an optional time and a place. The chart is calculated on this device. It is a structural sketch for general interest, not a reading and not a prediction.

How these pillars are set
Year
The year pillar changes at Li Chun, when the sun's longitude is 315 degrees, not on 1 January.
Month
The month pillar changes at the twelve jie solar terms. Those instants are calculated from the sun's longitude, not from a fixed table of dates.
Day
The day pillar is counted from a verified reference day. By default the day changes at 23:00.
Hour
The hour pillar follows the five rats rule from the day stem. An unknown birth time leaves this pillar blank.
For general interest only. This calculator is not a substitute for a full Ba Zi reading with Golden Lai. It does not store what you type and it does not send it anywhere.
How this calculator works
The year changes at Li Chun, not on 1 January and not at Chinese New Year. The month changes at the twelve solar terms. The day is a continuous 60 day cycle, changing at 23:00 by default, with a switch for midnight. Each hour pillar covers two clock hours. True solar time is the longitude correction plus the equation of time. Before 1 January 1982, Malaysia and Singapore used UTC+7:30, which is why the time zone field exists. 15 March 1984 at 19:29 in standard time is Jia Zi, Ding Mao, Wu Shen, Ren Xu.
If you do not know the birth time
Tick unknown and the hour pillar is left out. If that date is a solar term change, the page says the year or month pillar could fall either side. Three pillars still show the Day Master and most of the element balance.
What each part means
Stems and branches make each pillar. The Day Master is the day stem. Hidden stems sit inside the branches. Ten gods relate the other stems to the Day Master. Luck pillars run ten years each. The annual pillar is one year. Element counts are structure, not a prediction. The full reading order is on the how to read page.
A chart is not a reading
Pillars and counts are structure. A reading weighs the question you bring. That is innate Bazi analysis. Custom space energy from SGD 2,000. Innate Bazi analysis from SGD 528. I Ching space and time from SGD 428. I Ching x health from SGD 99.

Questions
Why does my year pillar differ from my zodiac animal?
The Ba Zi year starts at Li Chun, around 4 February, not at Chinese New Year. Born before Li Chun, your year pillar belongs to the previous year.
I was born between 23:00 and midnight. Which day counts?
By default the day changes at 23:00. You can switch that off so the day changes at midnight. Schools differ on this.
Should I use true solar time?
Johor Bahru and Singapore sit near 104 degrees east, while UTC+8 is centred on 120 degrees east, so local solar time is about an hour behind the clock. Compare both if you were born near the edge of a two hour block.
Is my data stored?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser.
How is this different from a reading with Golden?
The calculator gives you the structure. A reading interprets it against your question, timing and direction.
